  • Review of basic Lighting Technology - color temperature, CRI, approaching lighting as a SYSTEM rather then parts. foot candles, and power density.
  • In our course, you will review state approved lighting controls which are listed S119. If they are not listed it will prevent final electrical inspection.
  • You will be presented with a variety of controls specifications. You will be tested on you understanding of the respective technology.
  • You will perform terminations on Cat 5 & Cat 6 cabling.
  • There will be an assortment of labs as well as installation procedures base upon the products.
  • You will be given the basics on Energy Management System (I/O)
  • The course will cover the acceptance procedure for Title 24 lighting controls
  • The session will include NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace
  • Upon completion you will receive a completion certificate not only from our school, but from participating lighting control vendors.

TITLE 24 PART 6 LIGHTING
TITLE 24 PART 6 LIGHTING
"The Elephant in the Room"

Title 24 Part 6 lighting will affect every job that requires a building permit. What it means is that the lighting for any project must not exceed a certain amount of watts per square foot according to Title 24 Part 6 Lighting. If the lighting load exceeds the set watts it will require either less wattage fixtures, or will require lighting controls or both. Any deviation on lighting from the drawings will require re-submittal to the building department, and may extend the length of the project.

There are additional forms required to have a final inspection. The building inspector is aware of these forms.  Drawing will have four Certificate of Compliance forms for interior lighting, four Certificate of Compliance forms for Outside Lighting. There is  a Certificate of Installations that must be signed by the installing company, and finally there is Certificate of Acceptance that requires commissioning of lighting controls.

California Electrical Training will be conduct classes on Title 24 for non-residential lighting, and on residential lighting.

DCL System Controls with DEMANDflex Ballasts

DEMANDflex™ ballasts are high efficiency program start ballasts with the flexibility to be tuned at the circuit level to set power levels during initial installation. When combined with DCL® controls, they are part of the most cost-effective lighting energy management system available.

DCL® System Controls put you in command of your lighting energy costs. Reduce lighting power levels by up to 50% through a variety of control options. Incorporate scheduling and load shedding lighting strategies to reduce peak demand charges.

Integrate DCL® controls with other lighting controls for additional savings from daylight harvesting to occupancy sensors. DCL® systems can be controlled from a local building management system or networked for control over the internet for demand response lighting control.

California Electrical Training provides a lab so that the student can understand the proper installation, and programming the system.
